Bozell: GOP Leaders Must Stand Their Ground

September 19, 2013 5:52 pm

Reston, VA – ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell today released the following statement in support of the U.S. House of Representatives’ plan to pass a Continuing Resolution including language that does not fund ObamaCare.

“Today, Republican leaders in the House have joined the battle and kept their promise on behalf of the American people to get rid of Obamacare by not funding it and I applaud them.  How in good conscience any Member of Congress in either party can force the American people to pay for a costly and massive government takeover of health care while big business and Congress are exempted reeks of hypocrisy, cronyism and elitism.  Moreover, to put the American people on the line to pay for a massive government takeover of health care that the lead Democrat sponsor in the Senate has called a ‘train wreck’ is unethical, unimaginable and unexplainable.

“But in applauding I do so with caution.  We have seen this movie before.  After pressure from the grassroots, Republicans appear to be ready for a political battle one day then negotiate away their position the next.  On behalf of our 3.5 million supporters, I call on Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor, Minority Leader McConnell and all Republicans in the House and Senate to stand their ground and let President Obama and Senator Reid know that this position is non-negotiable, that you will fund the government, even things you may disagree with, just not any portion or aspect of Obamacare.  If Republicans do not stand their ground and stop funding of Obamacare it will be a broken promise to those that elected them and they will pay a heavy price.”

ForAmerica has generated over 50,000 phone calls in just three weeks to McConnell, Cornyn, Boehner, Cantor, Graham, McCarthy and other key Republicans who have refused to get behind the effort to not fund ObamaCare. ForAmerica and Tea Party Patriots helped arrange the massive rally at the Capitol last week and traveled to 11 cities over the last few weeks on their Exempt America tour urging GOP elected officials to only support a CR that does not fund ObamaCare. ForAmerica also created the Washington Chickens video series to encourage Republicans to refuse funding for ObamaCare.
