Bozell: ForAmerica Stands with Hobby Lobby

March 25, 2014

“We stand with Hobby Lobby and its fight to preserve our First Amendment right to freely exercise our faith.”

Reston, VA – ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell issued the following statement regarding Hobby Lobby’s case before the Supreme Court today.

“We stand with Hobby Lobby and its fight to preserve our First Amendment right to freely exercise our faith. The heavy-handed ObamaCare mandates that force law-abiding, faithful businesspeople to violate the tenets of their faith should be soundly rejected by the Supreme Court. Our country was founded by people seeking religious freedom, that freedom is protected in the first words in the Constitution and the Court needs to uphold that freedom.”

Surprise! ObamaCare set to Double Healthcare Premiums

March 19, 2014

A new report in The Hill today cites health industry professionals as saying that ObamaCare will cause premiums to double in some parts of the country. Just a week ago, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius attempted to claim, in her typical Washington double-talk ways, that while rates were going up, it’s insignificant compared to years past and therefore nothing to worry about—a claim that baffles healthcare professionals. Another day, another lie we’re expected to believe at face value. Speaking of value, how does paying twice as much to see a different doctor and receive less coverage sound to you? Welcome to ObamaCare, America.

Bozell: Conservatives Would be Foolish to Support Mitch McConnell

March 11, 2014

“A Democrat, at this point, would be more friendly to conservatives than Mitch McConnell.”

Reston, VA – ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell issued the following statement regarding Senator Mitch McConnell’s comment about crushing conservative activists.

“Mitch McConnell has declared war on conservatives, therefore conservatives would be foolish to support him in either a primary or general election. A Democrat, at this point, would be more friendly to conservatives than Mitch McConnell. No Democrat has declared war on conservatives like this Republican leader,” said Bozell.

Sen. McConnell Wants to “Crush” Conservatives

March 11, 2014

Mitch McConnell is showing his true colors. In the New York Times of all places, McConnell said he and other establishment candidates are going to “crush” grassroots conservatives. Those conservatives he’s going to “crush” are the same people who delivered a Republican majority in the House of Representatives. Mitch McConnell doesn’t want any more Rand Pauls, Marco Rubios, Mike Lees or Ted Cruzes in the U.S. Senate; he just wants to stay in his position of power. Instead of threatening to crush the heart of his own party, this so-called “Leader” should be spending his time crushing ObamaCare, crushing our growing national debt, or crushing Obama’s continuing executive power overreach (especially the IRS which has been targeting conservatives). Clearly Mitch McConnell is too far gone, he’s just another typical Washington politician who’s desperate to win another term and will lie and say anything necessary in order to make it happen. He has already admitted – through these most recent words and actions – that he has abandoned conservatives, so it’s about time we abandon him. It’s time to Dump the Leadership!

ObamaCare Delayed Again- Mr. President, it’s Time to End this Train Wreck

March 4, 2014

The Obama administration is yet again delaying parts of ObamaCare to give Democrats political cover in the upcoming mid-term elections. It begs the question: If it’s bad for Democrats, and it’s bad for the rest of us – one-in-three Americans say they’ve been personally hurt by ObamaCare – then why is President Obama so intent on imposing this disaster? One can only assume that he’s too proud to admit his signature bill is fundamentally flawed. What we have here is a President who is apparently more concerned with his legacy than doing what is right for Americans. For years, conservatives have been warning of the skyrocketing rates that would be associated with ObamaCare, the cancelled insurance plans, the hospitals that would close, and the patients who would receive lower quality care. These are just the side-effects we’ve seen thus far. In some respects we should be thankful that President Obama has, by apparent royal decree, delayed the implementation of aspects of the law, for it is sure to only get worse. In a way this is a sign of progress, he sees the writing on the wall: ObamaCare is bad for Democrats and it’s bad for Americans. Mr. President, it’s time to stop playing politics with people lives and help the people you lied too, before things get any worse. This ObamaCare train wreck must go!

New Video Exposes McConnell Hypocrisies

February 28, 2014

A compelling new video has been released by the Madison Project highlighting the stark difference between Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s words and voting record. The video, which can be viewed here, shows McConnell saying time and again how critical it is to cut spending and rein in the national debt and contrasts those words with McConnell’s recurring votes to raise the debt ceiling. In the video’s most alarming frame, we see that in total, McConnell has voted for $7.2 trillion in debt ceiling increases and suspensions. Senator McConnell has been shameless with his lies, lip service and Washington double talk. Perhaps he thinks we’re too stupid to notice. His refusal to advance a conservative agenda, or stand up to President Obama, proves he’s unfit to lead Republicans in the Senate. It’s time for new leaders to step up and live up to the promises that were made to the American people who voted for them. It’s time to Dump the Leadership.

FCC Plans to Regulate Newsrooms

February 21, 2014

In a stunning revelation, Ajit Pai, an FCC commissioner, penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal detailing an FCC plan to place government agents into newsrooms in order to monitor the press, and question their standards of coverage when dealing with newsworthy stories. “Everyone should agree on this,” Pai says, “The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories. Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission, where I am a commissioner, does not agree.” This is so blatantly outrageous one can only wonder how tone-deaf or lacking in common sense the higher ups at the FCC are.

Perhaps these are marching orders coming from levels higher than the FCC itself. When the press loses the ability to disseminate the news, without government intervention or interference, we as a society, lose our freedom of thought, to take raw information and form our own opinions. We become unthinking, vessels of the state, essentially fed whatever information is deemed appropriate by undoubtedly partisan beings.

This also adds to a very disturbing pattern coming from the Obama Administration.  The NSA spies on Americans, the IRS persecutes certain organizations and citizens because of their political; leanings, Obama arbitrarily rewrites sections of laws that have been passed to suit his purpose, and now the FCC wants to invade newsrooms.  Did someone say George Orwell?  Did someone say Richard Nixon?

It may seem like a drastic characterization at first glance, but given Mr. Pai’s role as an actively employed FCC commissioner, there is a large degree of credibility associated with his word. President ignores ObamaCare horror stories as human, financial costs pile up

February 20, 2014

By: L. Brent Bozell – Chairman, ForAmerica

As predicted, the Obama administration and many in the Democratic Party are trying to peddle the story that ObamaCare is now working because the healthcare.gov website is functioning better.

But despite the questionable claims of easier access and more people enrolling in the ObamaCare exchanges, the ugly truth is the horror stories are piling up and, sooner or later, ObamaCare’s cheerleaders will have to confront the overwhelming evidence indicting them for repeatedly lying to the American people.

As expected, President Obama used his State of the Union speech Tuesday to extol the virtues of ObamaCare, and also as expected, retold the story of one person positively affected by the program. But for each success there are countless failures.

People’s Exhibit A: Josie Gracchi has breast cancer. Up until January 1st of this year she had insurance and was scheduled for a January 3rd biopsy and follow-up treatment at one the largest private cancer treatment centers in the world: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

But once 2014 arrived, her insurance was rolled into an ObamaCare health exchange.

She now has no access to the surgeons she was working with, her biopsy and treatment have been postponed and she can’t find comparable doctors and surgeons through the ObamaCare website.

She pleaded on television for help from the president, but has yet to receive an answer.

People’s Exhibit B: Whitney Johnson of Texas is a new mom at 26 and suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Her treatments were expensive, $40,000 every five weeks, but her insurance was paying for those treatments.

Then came January 1, 2014 when the insurance was canceled; her insurance company is actually leaving the state of Texas because her plan no longer complies with ObamaCare.

Whitney liked her plan, which President Obama and a cast of countless Democrats told her she’d be able to keep. She doesn’t know what she’ll do now.

People’s Exhibit C: Gloria Cantor of Florida was told her insurance was being dropped because of ObamaCare. She has five brain tumors as well as tumors in her bones. Her insurance company told her that it can offer a different plan, but it will be more expensive. Another reason why “if you like your plan you can keep it” was labeled the “lie of the year” for 2013.

People’s Exhibit D: Joan Carrico is a 60 year old registered nurse in Michigan suffering from cancer, now going on six years.

She liked her insurance which was expensive but affordable. Then she was told by her insurance company that her best bet under ObamaCare would be a plan that would increase her premium anywhere from $4,500 to $6,500 per year, as well as a 10 percent federal tax.

Remember when Obama told us families would save $2,500 a year under ObamaCare? Complete fiction.

Question: What could be worse than being kicked off the health care plan you prefer when you need it most – when you’re suffering from a serious medical condition or debilitating disease?

Answer: Having the government come after you in the form of the IRS following your decision to go public about your dire situation.

People’s Exhibit E: Bill Elliot of South Carolina has stage four cancer and had insurance that covered most of his treatments. Then it was canceled because of ObamaCare.

His doctor told him he is in full remission, his treatments have been working.

He voted for Obama, in part because he believed the president’s words when he said “if you like your plan you can keep it.” But the new policy under ObamaCare would cost him $1,500 per month along with a $13,000 deductible, and it won’t even cover medicine or medical devices.

Elliot went public about his dilemma, doing media interviews to bring attention to his situation. All of a sudden he received a letter from the IRS telling him they would be auditing him for tax year 2009.

Moody’s Investor Service just downgraded its outlook for the U.S. health insurance industry from stable to negative because of serious concerns with the implementation of ObamaCare.

Moody’s Senior Vice President Stephen Zaharuk said: “While we’ve had industry risks from regulatory changes on our radar for a while, the ongoing unstable and evolving environment is a key factor for our outlook change.”

The cost of the empty promises and outright lies is enormous both in human and financial terms. What these people are experiencing is exactly what Moody’s Investor Service is so concerned about. ObamaCare is really NobamaCare.

No grassroots confidence left in GOP leadership

February 20, 2014

By: David Bozell – Executive Director, ForAmerica

That sound you hear coming from Washington, D.C. is the white flag of surrender flapping in the breeze. The upper echelon of the Republican Congressional leadership has officially capitulated to liberalism.

It isn’t a productive use of time to ponder why this happened. Along the way the leadership lost its nerve, and has slowly and systematically retreated, to the point where they no longer remember what it truly means to lead a nation and advance a conservative agenda.

The just-passed 1,600 page $1.1 TRILLION spending bill was the final corner nail in the coffin. This wasn’t just some Paul Ryan budget to be used as a guideline. This bill was our money being spread all across Washington to pay for Barack Obama’s disgustingly large bureaucracy.

What are we paying for, exactly? Courtesy of the Republican leadership, we are paying for an IRS to target conservatives and muzzle conservative thought. Courtesy of the Republican leadership, we are paying for Kathleen Sibelius and Barack Obama to rip our doctors and rip our health insurance out from underneath us. Courtesy of the Republican leadership, we are paying for the EPA to invade every facet of our businesses. Courtesy of the Republican leadership, we are paying our government to regulate every move we make.

Unless and until Congressional Republicans reassert their constitutional authority over the rules and regulation-making process in this country, we will not succeed as a free people. And this current leadership group: Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Cornyn and all the rest, have shown no appetite to reign in this bureaucracy. Instead, they fund it, giving Barack Obama nearly every penny he wants.

For three days last week the House Republican conference was secluded together, meeting, discussing, and strategizing over the Republican agenda for the year. What emerged was more of the same: empty rhetoric and empty promises.

Take ObamaCare. Four years ago, the GOP was elected to the majority in the House to save the American people from this mess and give us back our healthcare system. They have had four years to sell the American people on an alternative vision. FOUR YEARS.

Exiting the retreat, the GOP pledged to vote to repeal and replace ObamaCare in 2014. Will they attach it to must-pass legislation? No. Are there details the GOP would like to share with the American people? No. Will there be a vote any time soon? No. Maybe…maybe a few months from now, so they said.

Golly gee folks, thanks. Rome is burning, but I know you’ve got your re-election primary that’s more important. Please, take your time. (Insert sarcasm here).

On the debt ceiling deadline which comes up this month, already the predictable GOP tough talk about “getting something” for their approval of another increase has already segued into the predictable leak from unnamed “leadership aides” that there will be a clean debt ceiling bill with no concessions from Obama. No spending cuts to offset the debt limit increase, no green-lighting of the Keystone pipeline project which would create a minimum of 20,000 jobs across six states in Middle America. Nothing, nada, zilch.

The truth is that this current leadership team – in both the House and the Senate – has no game plan whatsoever on how to deal with the attendant political and policy issues of the day. Time and again they have allowed themselves to be outmaneuvered, outhustled and outmuscled by Obama and the Democrats.

Not only has the Republican leadership repeatedly capitulated to President Obama and the Congressional Democrats on issue after issue, they cannot point to a single accomplishment that reflects bona fide conservative principles. Yet once again this year, another election year, they will go back home to voters and promise to fight for conservative principles if re-elected. If the same leadership remains in place, we will only have ourselves to blame when they repeatedly fail and capitulate in the next session of Congress.

That is why ForAmerica is launching the “Dump the Leadership” campaign, because Republicans, Independents, and Conservatives all deserve better. There is too much at stake for our country to continue this lunacy. It’s time for them to go.
