Mitt Romney: I’m not running in 2016

The Republican establishment 2016 field just got thinner. Reports The Associated Press:

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will not run for president in 2016.

Three weeks after unexpectedly saying he was considering a third campaign for the White House, the former Massachusetts governor told members of his staff during a Friday conference call that he is out of race.

We need a strong conservative presidential candidate to win. Mitt Romney would have certainly been a better president than Barack Obama, but another Democrat-lite, establishment candidate simply will not do in 2016. Today’s decision by Governor Romney was a wise one.

There is too much at stake. The next election really could be a potentially transformational moment for the GOP and American politics.

Conservatives must seize it.
