On Tuesday, President Joe Biden will deliver the State of the Union address.
But what really matters is the state of his presidency.
In every poll on virtually any issue, Biden continues to break records in how low the American people approve of his job performance thus far.
Obviously Biden will address Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Tuesday night. What he won't address is a recent Harvard-Harris poll in which 62 percent of Americans said that Russia would have never went to war with Ukraine if Donald Trump was still president.
That's pretty bad, but there's more. "A majority of Americans polled — 59 percent — also said they believed that the Russian president moved on Ukraine because Putin saw weakness in President Biden," The Hill reported.
Ouch. What else is Biden bad on?
In January 21, 69 percent of Americans approved of Biden's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic according to FiveThirtyEight. That number has since slipped to 48 percent.
That's a 20-point drop.
On inflation, an ABC News/Ipsos poll showed that 69 percent of Americans disapproved of how the president was handling price spikes. That same poll showed that "Only one in four Americans (25%) would describe the nation’s economy as excellent or good."
On Afghanistan withdrawal, "Nearly two-thirds of Americans disapprove of how President Joe Biden handled the withdrawal from Afghanistan — even as a larger share of the public supports the decision to leave the country after 20 years, according to a poll released Thursday."
"Those surveyed didn't like how Biden dealt with the situation even though 74% supported the decision to leave," the report continued.
So three quarters of the country thought it was time to get out of Afghanistan yet a strong majority still thought Biden did it in the worst way possible. Talk about incompetent.
What about Biden's first year in the White House overall?
An NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist poll published Friday found that "In all, 56% said Biden's first year in office was a failure, versus just 39% who said it was a success."
"What's more, 54% said he's not fulfilling his campaign promises, and 52% said he has done more to divide the country than unite it, despite uniting the country being a pillar of Biden's 2020 presidential run," NPR reported.
Biden might be the most divisive president of our lifetimes.
So... this failure is still set to speak to us on Tuesday.
What will he say? What CAN he say?: More empty promises that will fall on the deaf ears of millions of Americans.
The people are done with this president. Even if Joe Biden and his party don't realize it yet.
