Let's Cut Some Spending: Halloween candy prices surge 13% due to inflation

In our Let's Cut Some Spending series, ForAmerica chronicles the many ways Washington wastes YOUR tax dollars - and as you’ll see, the list is endless.

For Halloween, we're looking at how massive federal spending harms us in more ways than one.

Right now, inflation is hurting everyone. Inflation has been called by many a "hidden tax" because consumers end up paying more for goods than they would have otherwise due to government devaluing the dollar by overspending. As Forbes' William Dunkelburg recently put it, criticizing the Biden White House,"While the Federal Reserve fights inflation, the Administration continues to push for more spending, the root cause of our inflation."

So, for today’s offering: Halloween candy prices surge 13% due to inflation!

The New York Post reports:

The price of Halloween candy in the US has soared a frightful 13% since October 2022 — more than double the 6% increase across grocery prices generally, according to a survey.
During the past year, the price of chocolate alone has increased roughly 12%, research firm Datasemby found after collecting sales information from over 150,000 stores across 30,000 zip codes representing 200-plus retail banners.
So-called candy-flation rates — which are hitting double-digits for Halloween for the second year straight — are even higher in some states, especially in the Northeast.
Consumers in Vermont, Maine and Pennsylvania can prepare to be spooked by candy prices up 14.7%, 14.2% and 14.1%, respectively, from last Halloween, per Datasembly’s findings, which were earlier reported on by CNBC.

There is no end in sight to our current inflation problem, the scariest part for so many American families this Halloween.

There's also no end in sight on the government spending either, a primary cause of inflation.

And they just keep on spending. Like it's nothing.

Happy Halloween!
