Our Immigration Problem Keeps Getting Worse and it’s Biden’s Fault

Joe Biden recently said he would do something to fix the border through executive action.

Then he didn't do anything to fix the border.

When White House Press Secretary Karine Jarine-Pierre was asked if the president was still planning to use an executive order to address the immigration problem, she said the administration didn't think it was necessary.

Which is funny, because early in his presidency Biden used executive order after executive order to dismantle Donald Trump's border policies.

Biden is desperately worried about Ukraine's border.

But this American president doesn't seem to give a damn about the security of his own country's borders.

At all. That's not hyperbole.

The Hill's Nolan Rappaport writes, "When asked if he had done everything he could do to secure the border, President Biden said he can’t get it done with executive power alone."

That's a new one! Again, he loved executive orders beforehand.

"Consequently, he instructed his team to engage in 'negotiations with a bipartisan group of senators to seriously, and finally, address the border crisis,'" Rappaport added.

The negotiations resulted in the Senate Border Act of 2024 (Border Act), which, he says, if enacted, would be 'the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country.' Among other things, it would establish “a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed,” and he would use that authority the day he signed the bill into law. 

But Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) claims that Biden hasn’t really tried to secure the border. In fact, since his first day in office, his administration has systematically undermined America’s border security.  

I share Johnson’s skepticism about Biden’s intentions. He caused the border crisis with his immigration policies, and the Border Act his team negotiated would not eliminate those policies. 

Anything that comes out of Biden's mouth between now and November about the border is pure garbage.

If he wanted to fix it, he could have, but the problem is he doesn't want to. That's so evident at this point.

His promise to use an executive order to help fix the border a week ago was just him spouting off to hold off criticism. Nothing ever came of that and nothing ever will.

America's southern border is worse off than it's ever been.

And it's Joe Biden's fault.
