'A Serious Problem for Democrats:' Only 1 in 4 Dems Under 30 Say They're Proud to Be an American

Bill Maher cited recent polling data on his HBO show Friday that showed that only 23 percent of Democrats under 30 say they’re proud to be American.

54 percent said they were “embarrassed” to be an American. Really?

Maher blasted their "embarrassing" lack of patriotism.

The poll was conducted by The Daily Caller.

Maher pulled no punches in criticizing Dem voters with anti-American attitudes for their lack of perspective.

“Seriously, this is a serious problem for Democrats,” Maher said on his 'Real Time' program. “Less than 1 in 4 Democrats under 30 say they’re proud to be an American. 54 percent say they’re embarrassed by it.”

He continued, “Is America perfect? No, of course not. No country is."

"But the US is leagues ahead of the rest of the world on most of the progressive issues that are important to young people," Maher said. "America has 14-million women-owned businesses. Seventeen percent of black women are starting businesses, which is faster than white women or white men."

Maher then noted how America treats gay Americans compared to other countries.

"Gay Americans are free to marry and 49 percent of them own property," the host said. "Yes, in America gays buy buildings. In other places, they get thrown off them.”

Maher, a liberal who isn't afraid to criticize his own side, then took progressives to the ground.

“Embarrassed?" he asked. "Like America is your mom picking you up at school? You’re embarrassed to be an American?"

"Well guess what — the feeling’s mutual, because you have no perspective," Maher said.

Maher eviscerated the Left.

Maher is no conservative. Quite the opposite.

But if even he, as a progressive, can see how twisted the Left has become - and this still isn't a wake up call for them - it shows just how far gone leftists have become.

America, despite her many faults, is still the greatest country in history. Americans who can't see that are completely delusional. But apparently there are many.

Good on Bill Maher for calling them out on it.
