Black Lives Matter Plaza in DC Gets Completely Demolished

During the George Floyd protests that broke out over the summer of 2020, Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser named a two block pedestrian part of the city "Black Lives Matter Plaza" after a giant "Black Lives Matter" slogan had been painted on the area in yellow.

This week, that plaza is gone.

Demolished. Dismantled. Erased.

When Donald Trump began his second term, he threatened to withhold DC funding if it remained. The same mayor, Bowser, agreed to the president's demand.

And now... it's gone!

The Daily Caller reported, "Construction workers on Monday completed the removal of Black Lives Matter Plaza from Washington, D.C.’s 16th Street in front of the White House following weeks of demolition, photos and videos show. Democratic Washington, D.C."

The story continued, "Bowser began building the plaza in June 2020 after BLM protesters had wreaked havoc on Washington in May, after George Floyd died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mobs of people attempted to storm the White House, injured law enforcement, vandalized businesses and historic monuments and more in the weeks following Floyd’s death."

Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde said he had recently pushed a bill to get rid of it.

“Less than one month ago, I introduced legislation to force D.C. to remove Black Lives Matter Plaza,” Clyde said on X. “Today, BLM Plaza is officially GONE.”

“We’re making our nation’s capital great again!” he added.

He wasn't the only conservative excited.

Good riddance.
