Donald Trump is "more beloved" by Republican voters than Presidents George W. Bush, his father, George H.W. Bush, and even Ronald Reagan.
According to CNN's Harry Enten. The data reporter broke down the numbers on CNN on Tuesday.
Trump has a 63 percent approval rating with Republican voters at five months into his presidency.
This is not only higher than any other modern Republican president, but when Reagan was only five months in as president, he received 60 percent approval.
Enten said, “It’s history making … Why don’t we look back, we’ve got all the Republican presidents going back over the last 36, 37 years, what are we talking about? GOP who strongly approves five months in."
"Look at this. [Former President] George H.W. Bush, 46 percent. [Former President] George [W] Bush, 59 percent. You see Trump the first term, 53 percent," he said.
Enten continued, turning back to Trump, "But look at this, 63 percent. He beats all the Republicans on the board here and I was looking even back since Reagan, and get this. Donald Trump beats Ronald Reagan when it comes to the strongly approve five months in, and of course Reagan was coming on high after that assassination attempt.”
That's impressive.
“So the bottom line is that Donald Trump is making history with the Republican base, he is more beloved by this Republican base than any other Republican base loved any other GOP president five months in. It is history making,” Enten concluded.
President Trump has kept many of his campaign promises, including tamping down on illegal immigration and dealing with inflation, and these numbers likely reflect recognition of this by the GOP base.
However he got to 63 percent approval, surpassing even Ronald Reagan, one of the most popular Republican presidents of the 20th century, is quite the feat.
And we still have 3-and-a-half years to go.
Buckle up.
