Cracker Barrel Makes Some BAD Changes and People Aren't Having It

ree

Who doesn't love Cracker Barrel?

The old timey, country store looking restaurant chain has country music and root beer you can buy in the gift shop, where you also can get breakfast all day or a country fried steak with mustard greens for dinner.

But those in charge are now giving Cracker Barrel a new logo and a makeover. It's not good. Like really, really not good.

They have taken away the barrel and man from the logo.

They are changing their traditional kitschy interior.

It's bad. The company was struggling financially and now stocks are plummeting further.

It's a revolt.

Fox News reported Thursday, "The fallout from Cracker Barrel's logo change and restaurant makeover isn't over. Shares of the food chain plunged Thursday as customer backlash and investor unease drove the chain’s worst losing streak in months."

The story continued, "Shares of Cracker Barrel (CBRL) tumbled more than 12% on Thursday, the steepest drop since April. The stock, down 16.47%, is on pace for its worst five-day stretch since Feb. 14, when it dropped 17.7%. Cracker Barrel’s stock fell to $52, down more than $6, or about 11%, marking its lowest level since mid-June. Shares gained slightly to $53.48 by the afternoon.

"Since May, Cracker Barrel, beloved for its Southern comfort food, front-porch rocking chairs and gift shop filled with knickknacks and old-fashioned sweets, has embarked on a $700 million transformation across its 660-plus restaurants," Fox News noted.

That's a big NOPE. Don't change Cracker Barrel!

"The sweeping makeover includes 'decluttered' dining rooms, a revamped menu and other changes aimed at updating a brand long rooted in nostalgia."

People aren't having it.

A fall from grace.

Steak 'n Shake ain't having it.

Of course customers hate it.

If you like Cracker Barrel, you could be walking into a completely different place the next time you visit.

You've been warned.
