Florida hero saves 'terrified' cat trapped by Hurricane Ian flooding

A 29-year-old Florida man has become a viral sensation after rescuing a stranded cat surrounded by floodwaters due to Hurricane Ian.

Mike Ross of Bonita Springs, Florida can be seen in the video wading toward the trapped cat that was sitting atop an air-conditioning unit beside a house.

With water rushing everywhere, he successfully picks up the scared feline.

You can hear his girlfriend Megan Cruz Scavo saying, "My boyfriend saving a cat from flood waters near Bonita Beach."

Ross’ mom, Marybeth, who filmed the video, can be heard saying, "Look at Michael saving the kitty. Aww."

According to the Washington Post, Ross said that he noticed the “terrified” orange and white cat while staying at his parents' home during the storm and decided something had to be done to save it.

As you could imagine, the praise was aplenty.

One commenter even informed Ross' girlfriend that he was now "everybody's boyfriend."

As Florida continues to pick up and recover from a major storm, at least one hero has made one cat and countless humans' week a little brighter.
