Hakeem Jeffries Really Didn't Want to Give Trump Credit on Border Security

Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries gave President Donald Trump credit for securing the U.S.-Mexico border during an interview on Wednesday.
But it took a lot to get him to admit this.
Jeffries made his remarks - finally - during an interview with CNN.
Host Pamela Brown noted to Jeffries that border apprehensions were lower under Trump than they were when Biden was president, indicating that less people are trying to break into the country.
Thanks to President Trump's policies.
Brown asked the Democrat,“Are you willing to give President Trump any credit for that?”
Rep. Jeffries replied, "We believe in a safe, a strong and a secure border. And that’s important. And we’ll continue to stand behind that. At the same period of time, we acknowledge, of course, we have a broken immigration system.”
That wasn't an answer.
Jeffries continued,“It needs to be fixed, but it should be fixed in a comprehensive and in a bipartisan way. The American people strongly disagree with the approach that Donald Trump has taken in terms of interior enforcement and immigration. Because Republicans promised that they were going to go after violent felons. We support that.”
Actually polls show that Americans overwhelmingly support Trump's mass deportations, that obviously ejected some violent criminals from the U.S.
Jeffries went on, but he never answered Brown's question. He instead focused on some recent poor approval numbers for the president.
Brown conceded that Jeffries was correct about that particular area of polling, but...
“In terms of securing the border, can you give President Trump any credit for securing the border?” she asked.
“Because as you know, that was a big issue under the Biden administration when you had record border crossings," Brown observed. "And those border crossings have gone down dramatically."
"Can you give him credit for that?” Brown asked again.
Jeffries replied, “The border is secure. That’s a good thing. It’s happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it. Of course, he’ll get credit for that.”
He finally admitted it, however begrudgingly.
By every metric, America's borders are more secure now under the Trump administration than they ever were throughout Joe Biden's presidency.
Biden even once laughingly made his vice president Kamala Harris the "border czar."
How'd that work out?
How it worked out was Americans elected Trump instead of her, and a serious lack of national security along the southern border was a big part of that decision.
President Trump has delivered on that front. Even Hakeem Jeffries admits it.
