With a week to go until the inauguration, many Americans are looking forward to seeing what President Donald Trump might accomplish in his second term.
But on Sunday, Vice President-elect reminded everyone that Joe Biden's presidency has been such a disaster, Trump's incoming administration was inheriting a "dumpster fire" of problems due to his predecessor's incompetence and failed leadership.
Vance was also optimistic that Trump was precisely the kind of leader who could handle cleaning up Biden's mess.
Vance made his remarks during an interview on Fox News Sunday.
The soon-to-be vice president explained, “I wish Joe Biden all the best, but the fact is he has left us a dumpster fire, not just at the border but also with the economy."
Vance then listed a few of the problems he and the president will face.
"First of all we know that prices are way too high for many Americans," Vance said to host Shannon Bream. "We have to work every single day to stabilize prices for American families.”
He continued, “Everything he’s bragging about ignores the fact that he has added trillions and trillions of dollars to the federal debt. During a time of peace he has left us with bond yields meaning how are we going to finance that debt? We have to sell treasury bonds and the treasury bonds have gotten more expensive because of Joe Biden’s policies.”
Vance added, “You go issue after issue - oil prices are shooting through the roof and the final two months of Joe Biden’s administration in part, because of decisions Joe Biden has made over the last few weeks. He actually hasn’t left the American people in a good economic condition, that’s why they made Donald Trump the President-elect of the United States. We’ve got a lot of work to do."
Still, Vance explained why he remains optimistic.
"I remain fundamentally, and you know this, I will always be an optimist about our country but I think that optimism has to start with a bit of realism and the real truth is that Joe Biden has left us a dumpster fire," Vance observed.
But added, "Donald Trump will have to put it out but he’s good at doing that.”
Last month during an interview with Dr. Phil, Trump's pick for "border czar," Tom Homan, expressed the same kind of optimism regarding Trump and his ability to fix things.
Trump will have a lot to contend with, but as Vance noted on Sunday, he's the right man to clean up behind Biden.
We have already seen this once with Trump, coming in after eight years of Barack Obama in 2017, and now we will likely see it again.
Could you imagine if the country had to endure another four years of Democratic rule? Especially thinking about all the "dumpster fires" a President Kamala Harris would have inevitably created?
Thankfully we don't have to.
And President Donald Trump's inauguration cannot come quick enough.
