On Saturday, Vice President JD Vance took his 3-year-old daughter, Mirabel, for a walk.
During which pro-Ukrainian protesters reportedly screamed at him and even chased him and his daughter down.
Vance tried to respectfully talk to some of the protesters, but when it came to bothering his daughter, he wasn't having any of it.
“Today while walking my 3-year-old daughter a group of ‘Slava Ukraini’ protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared,” Vance wrote on X.
"I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.)" Vance wrote.
He continued, "It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person."
In a video by WCPO 9, protesters can be seen waving Ukrainian flags and telling Vance that “people are dying.”
Vance spoke with them in a calm manner and said he hoped that the war would be brought to an end soon.
“Russia certainly invaded Ukraine in 2022, but there needs to be a settlement,” Vance told them.
On woman shouted back at him, followed by more protesters.
Vance said he was trying to be respectful, but he had also reached his limit.
Vance told the woman, "Ma’am, I am with my 3-year-old daughter now, and I told you, I would talk to you for five minutes."
The vice president said he did not take his child out to “have people run around and yell at her.”
Vance and President Donald Trump had a tense exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this month in which the vice president broke down how much America has given to that country, and also how they were going to reach a negotiated peace with Russia.
People had plenty to say about Vance and his daughter facing off with the protesters.
