Leavitt Torches CNN: 'Liberal Media is Complicit' in Texas Anti-ICE Shooting

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted "the liberal media" and CNN in particular over a report now linked to the lethal shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday.

Police reportedly found one potential shooter on a rooftop who appeared to have taken his own life. The two other detainees were injured.

Leavitt blamed CNN for promoting an app that made users aware of ICE agents' locations.

Leavitt wrote on X, "Three months ago, CNN irresponsibly gave free publicity to an app that recklessly shares the location of ICE Agents."

"It has now been revealed the leftist lunatic shooter who opened fire on the Dallas ICE Facility was using one of these apps," she added. "The liberal media is complicit in the increased threats and violence against ICE."

Leavitt shared her comments with a post from FBI Director Kash Patel claiming one suspect had downloaded a list of ICE locations in Texas and also "searched apps that tracked the presence of ICE agents."

CNN was one of several news outlets that reported on ICE-tracking apps.

Leavitt went on to write, "We see it every day — they are quick to write a fake story portraying ICE in a negative light, often omitting the real facts of these cases, and they hardly ever write about the vicious criminals that ICE is arresting every day to make our country safer."

Patel said that one shooting suspect left behind a handwritten note that read,"Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, 'is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?"

Leavitt warned CNN ad others against promoting these kinds of apps back in June.

Leavitt said at the time, "Surely, it sounds like this would be an incitement of further violence against our ICE officers. As you know, as you stated, there's been a 500 percent increase in violence against ICE agents, law enforcement officers across the country who are just simply trying to do their jobs and remove public safety threats from our communities." 

She continued, "And that's something we as Americans, including journalists at CNN, who live in many of these cities where illegal aliens are hiding and were let in from the previous administration, should be very grateful for."

Leavitt would add, "It's unacceptable that a major network would promote such an app that is encouraging violence against law enforcement officers who are trying to keep our country safe."
