Let's Cut Some Spending: Your tax dollars going toward ‘tree equity'

Creative Commons

In our Let's Cut Some Spending series, ForAmerica chronicles the many ways Washington wastes YOUR tax dollars - and as you’ll see, the list is endless.

Today’s offering: Your tax dollars going toward ‘tree equity!’

Republican Rep. Chip Roy recently said on the House floor:

The amendment that I’m offering here on the legislation we’re considering would prohibit any of the funds in this appropriation bill from being used to carry out so-called 'environmental justice' quote, unquote, activities.
I mean, you literally can’t just make this absurdity up. Here are some of the examples. Quote, “to develop a roadmap to dismantle 'environmental racism'” in Brunswick, Georgia. The ecology action in Bloomington, Illinois, which, quote “seeks to identify and develop mitigation strategies for disproportionate climate impacts and increase 'tree equity.'”
What in the hell is tree equity?

America is $33 trillion in debt. Politicians in both parties should be working overtime to find spending cuts.

Few to no Democrats do this. Most Republicans don't either, but a few, like Chip Roy, hold the line on fiscal responsibility.

Roy's right: Why in the hell are we spending tax dollars on ridiculous nonsense like 'environmental justice?' On 'tree equity?'

Whatever that is.
