NYC Socialist Mayor Candidate Mamdani Won't Give Trump Credit for Ceasefire

President Donald Trump has brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, that has included releasing the hostages and halting the war in Gaza.

The president deserves credit for this monumental achievement.

But when Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani was asked by CNN if Trump deserves credit, he dodged the question.

He simply wouldn't answer it.

It was reported on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of Trump's peace deal.

When CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked Mamdani if Trump deserves praise for getting this done, he replied, “You know I’ll say that the news of a ceasefire leaves me with hope, the images of children celebrating, and I pray that it is lasting. I pray that it delivers peace. And I think that the question of praise should come in the enforcement of this ceasefire."

Fine. But does the president deserve credit for brokering a ceasefire? Something Mamdani himself had previously pleaded for?

He continued, “Because what this agreement can never do is erase what the last few years of tragedy have been for so many, whether it be Hamas’s horrific war crime of October 7 or the Israeli government’s genocide of Palestinians since.”

Yeah, that's still not answering the question.

Mamdani did admit the ceasefire was a positive trend.

The NYC mayoral candidate said, “And what we are talking about is no agreement can bring back the rubble or make it whole. It can’t bring back entire bloodlines that have been erased. It can’t bring back hostages that died in captivity. And so we continue to both mourn and remember what has occurred and hope that the future will look far different than it. If the genocide ends then I think that’s something worthy to be praised.”

To be clear, again, a ceasefire - what Trump just achieved - is exactly what Mamdani had been calling for, for TWO YEARS, when Joe Biden was still president (and was doing nothing about it).

CNN host Collins - yes, CNN - followed up by asking if this peace continues would it lead Mamdani to give Trump credit?

He replied, “I think if it sustains, yes, and the fact of the matter is that the hostage families themselves said everyone for everyone. They reminded us of the universality of what a resolution could look like."

Sure.

President Trump did a great thing in ushering in peace and freeing the hostages.

Whether the Left wants to admit it or not.

Whether Zohran Mamdani wants to admit it or not.
