'Propaganda Voice for the Left': Leavitt Celebrates Cutting NPR Funding

During a press briefing on Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about National Public Radio (NPR) CEO Katherine Maher claiming that cutting funding to her network could be a “risk to the public safety."

Congress passed a rescissions package that cuts funding for both NPR and PBS.

Funding that ForAmerica has been opposed for our entire history.

The reporter asked, “(Maher) is claiming that the cuts to their network will be ‘a real risk to the public safety of this country.' (Sen. Lisa) Murkowski has argued that public broadcasting stations save lives."

"Could you respond to these concerns?” she asked.

Respond Leavitt did.

“The NPR CEO said cutting NPR will be a risk to public safety," Leavitt began. "I’m not sure how NPR helps the public safety of our country, but I do know that NPR unfortunately has become, really just a propaganda voice for the left."

She made NPR's bias clear.

Leavitt continued, "So just a few examples for you, in 2020, NPR refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal in the run up to the election. They said ‘their assertions don’t amount too much,’ writing they did ‘not want to waste the listeners and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.’ That does not sound like an unbiased opinion, that sounds like a partisan opinion to me, and this is a taxpayer funded organization."

“These are not honest news organizations," Leavitt said. "These are partisan, left-wing outlets that are funded by the taxpayers and this administration does not believe it is a good use of the taxpayers’ time and money."

On Tuesday, ForAmerica President David Bozell explained how taxpayers fund these outlets that do so many awful things.

Like airing what an abortion sounds like. Yes, they really did that.

Cutting funding to NPR and PBS is something that should have happened a long time ago, but this week, thankfully, it finally happened, thanks to the hard work of many conservatives and conservative organizations including ForAmerica and the Media Research Center among others.

If NPR and PBS want to exist, let them compete in the free market like everyone else.

But not another dime from American taxpayers.
