Former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross was not happy on Tuesday when CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings took her to task for using the term “concentration camps."
During his campaign, Donald Trump made fixing America's illegal immigration problem a top priority.
Once elected to his second term, the president has been keeping that promise by securing the border and deporting illegal aliens through multiple executive orders.
Cross is unhappy with this and said on Tuesday, “People want... people who are suffering right now, people who cannot pay their mortgage, people who have been separated from their families, people who are sitting in deportation camps, concentration camps, foreign and domestic, those people do not want to see people.”
Jennings immediately shot back, “That’s offensive to Jewish people.”
Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky jumped in, “No, it’s not. I’m Jewish and it is not offensive. It’s not, it’s not a death camp.”
Jennings responded, “People do not — comparing that to the Holocaust is wild.”
Cross finally replied, “I honestly wish they were more offended by the actions of this administration… instead of my language. They should focus on something more important than what I call it and focus more on what’s actually happening to people who are getting disappeared by a government agency. And none of us should ever normalize that, like it’s something rational to do. My point is, this entire asinine scene of people playing cartoons...”
A despondent Jennings told Cross, “You’ll never get it."
He's right.
There is no context in the U.S.'s illegal immigration debate to compare the people involved to the overwhelmingly Jewish victims forced into the Nazi'z concentration camps during World War II. It really is offensive to even make the comparison.
And yes, as Scott Jennings notes, leftists like Tiffany Cross and her friends just don't seem to understand this and likely never will.
