Scott Jennings Warns Mamdani's NYC Win Will be 'Terrible' for Dems Long Term

On Tuesday, Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City, and Dem Jay Jones - who had fantasized about killing his political opponent's children - was elected the next attorney general of Virginia.
Democrats rejoiced. CNN's GOP analyst Scott Jennings said not so fast.
He warned that long term the election of these two far left Dems would be bad for the “national Democratic image.”
Jennings analyzed some Democrats' wins on Tuesday night, “These are blue states, and Democrats were supposed to win, so I wouldn’t overread it. Virginia, in particular, has never been a great bellwether,” Jennings said of Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger gubernatorial win in that state.
The CNN analyst then turned to New York and even offered "condolences" to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, also of New York.
He predicted a hard socialist turn for the party led by hard leftist Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"You know, I think — I just want to offer condolences to Chuck Schumer, honestly,” Jennings said. “What I’m reading here in New York City is that AOC is going to be the next senator from New York after she gets done whipping his rear end in the 2028 Democratic primary.”
Jennings believes Democrats' Tuesday victories could harm their chances in the 2026 midterms
“And for his Senate races in 2026, I see the energy in the Democratic Party tonight behind a socialist, and I see the energy in Virginia Democrats looking the other way on a violent candidate for attorney general who says he wants to murder Republicans and their children,” Jennings said.
"This is a terrible night for national Democratic image, given what is happening inside their party," he continued. "Mamdani is an avowed socialist. It’s not what people say that he is, it’s what he says that he is."
"He’s now the leader of their party," Jennings noted. "That’s their energy.”
Democrats have reason to celebrate after their sweeping victories.
But what will this mean for their party going into 2026 and 2028?
Will the Democrats now just be fully the hard left socialist party that so many within their party have always wanted them to be?
Zohran Mamdani seems to hope so. Scott Jennings is right to warn Democrats of what that might look like in the future.
