Trump Makes Big Move That Could Help Young People Buy Homes

The American Dream means a number of things, but major among them has always been the ability to buy a home.

This is more difficult for Americans today than ever, particularly for young people, due to inflation, the rising cost of living and other factors.

But the Trump administration might be offering some relief by making a big move that could help so many people finally own their own homes.

Florida's Voice reported on Wednesday, "President Donald Trump’s Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency Bill Pulte, who is also the chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – the largest mortgage backer in the United States – announced that homebuyers will now be able to qualify for mortgages based on their rent history."

"The move comes as FICO credit scoring has had an essential monopoly in the market. VantageScore 4.0 can now be considered when Americans seek to buy homes, and that scoring system can incorporate rent and utility payments," the report noted.

Pulte had nothing but gratitude for the president making this happen.

He wrote on X, “My ORDER today (thanks to my boss, POTUS) will allow for Americans to use their RENT to qualify for a mortgage Credit history will no longer just include credit cards and loans. This is HUGE.”

“It’s absurd that someone can have a history of $2200 a month for rent but they want to buy a home for $1750 a month and can’t," Pulte wrote in another post.

“Today, we allowed for RENT payments to COUNT toward qualifying for a MORTGAGE," he added.

Pulte also acknowledged that this major help to homebuyers would be receiving far more media attention if done by a Democratic president and not Trump.

"If “Obama” or “Biden” did that (they didn’t), it would be nonstop news coverage. When President Trump does it, very few people report it. President Trump is THE transformational President," he added.

36-year-old Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna recognized how this was good news for younger Americans across the country.

It is harder for younger Americans to buy a home right now than it has been in a long time.

Hopefully, President Trump just made it easier.
