Trump Sets Deadline for Firings as Dem Shutdown Drags On

President Donald Trump has now given a deadline for when federal workers would begin to be fired and certain federal programs would be cut due to the Democrat-led government shutdown.

Democrats, led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, rejected a continuing resolution Monday, prolonging shutdown.

Trump has said the shutdown could cause mass firings. On Tuesday, the president told reporters when those firings could begin if the shutdown continues.

“How many permanent jobs are you talking about eliminating?” a reporter asked Trump.

“I’ll be able to tell you that in four or five days. If this keeps going on, it’ll be substantial, and a lot of those jobs will never come back,” Trump replied. “You’re going to have a lot closer to a balanced budget.”

The reporter also asked Trump if there were specific programs he wanted to get rid of.

The president replied, “Oh, sure. We have a lot, I’m not going to tell you, but we’ll be announcing it pretty soon. But we have a lot of things that we’re going to eliminate and permanently eliminate."

He continued, “You know, one of the things that we have as some advantage, you could say, but because of the shutdown, which I think they made a big mistake, we’re able to take out billions and billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse, and they’ve handed it, you know, to us on a silver platter."

This shutdown is happening because Democrats are still demanding that health benefits should be given to illegal immigrants.

Let that sink in.

But what about American citizens? Particularly those who work for the federal government? Shouldn't they be a priority in this debate?

Democrats have their priorities. And actual American citizens aren't one of them.
