Whoopi Goldberg: Being Black in America Today Is No Different than Living in Iran

Whoopi Goldberg said on Wednesday that America treats black people just as badly as the government of Iran treats Iranians.
“The View” co-host actually said this.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that in Iran some citizens face harsh abuse, particularly women and gay people
“The Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings. They don’t adhere to basic human rights,” Griffin said.
Goldberg said to Griffin, "Well here’s the thing. Let’s not do that because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry. [Americans] used to just keep hanging black people."
Griffin replied, “Oh wait, wait, wait. That’s not what you mean to say, it isn't the same.” Griffin insisted that no group currently in America has to endure the abuses that Iranians do.
“The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I stepped foot wearing this outfit in Tehran right now,” Griffin said. “I can’t have my hair showing, I can’t wear a skirt, I can’t have my arms out.”
Goldberg did not like that.
“And that’s why I am saying that it is the same," Whoopi doubled down. "Murdering someone for their difference is not good whoever does it. It’s not good."
Goldberg definitely got a reaction on social media.
High profile Iranian Jew Nioh Berg wrote:
Maybe Whoopi is just out of touch.
Some pointed out how incredibly wrong and obtuse Goldberg's comments were.
Another insane attack by Whoopi.
Completely absurd.
Poor wealthy Whoopi.
There were too make takes on Whoopi Goldberg's bizarre remarks to include them all here.
And they ALL agreed: This woman has officially lost her mind (if she hadn't already).
