Today, ForAmerica congratulates Kelly Tshibaka for advancing to the general election on November 8, 2022 as one of the top four candidates from Alaska's Senate primary. ForAmerica had previously endorsed Kelly.
Nineteen candidates competed in the primary - eight Republicans, three Democrats, one Libertarian, five independents, and two Alaskan Independence Party candidates.
This was the first time the top-four primary was used in a Senate race since Alaska voters approved a ballot measure nearly two years ago changing Alaska's voting system to a ranked-choice system. Under this new system, all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, run in a single primary election. The four candidates who receive the most votes advance to the general election, where the winner is decided.
ForAmerica President David Bozell said:
ForAmerica is proud to have endorsed Kelly Tshibaka to represent Alaska in the United States Senate and glad to see her advance to the general election. Kelly is undoubtedly the conservative choice in this election, who will stand up for the Second Amendment, will speak out to protect the unborn, and will not be afraid to take on the Biden administration’s radical agenda. We need as many strong conservative leaders in Washington as we can get in these uncertain times, and Kelly certainly fits that bill.
Kelly is running for the Senate seat currently held by Lisa Murkowski, who also advanced to the general election. Murkowski has held the seat for two decades and has been criticized for often voting against the interests of Alaskans.
ForAmerica looks forward to supporting Kelly and her fight to replace Murkowski, so that we can finally have a conservative in this Senate seat.
Bozell added:
We need to replace Republicans who seem to love voting with Democrats most of the time with someone who shares our values, like Kelly. ForAmerica will fight with her throughout this campaign to make sure that this happens.
ForAmerica believes in guaranteed constitutional rights, including the right to life at every stage of life. We believe America should have unlimited education and economic opportunities. We believe America should be energy independent using American resources. We demand the freedom to speak and practice our faith. We will accept nothing less than fair and honest elections, and a government that is transparent, accountable, and stays off the backs of the American people as much as possible.
