Pass or Fail
Senate Majority Leader John Thune has the SAVE America Act on the Senate floor right now with debate happening this week. Most Republicans support it strongly and a large majority of voters back the basic idea of proof of citizenship and voter ID so that only American citizens vote in our elections. It is pure common sense.
Democrats keep pushing the lie that this bill is some kind of voter suppression that will kick millions of Americans off the rolls. That is ridiculous. Law-abiding citizens have no problem showing who they are. The Democrats are really just fighting to preserve ways for non-citizens to sneak into the voter system.
Yet the filibuster keeps stalling everything. Conservatives are urging Republicans to use a real talking filibuster so Democrats have to stand and defend their lies publicly instead of running out the clock with games. That would finally let this pass with a simple majority.
If Senate Republicans will not make that happen, we are watching nothing but classic Washington failure theater all over again. Pass the bill, or fail in November. They need to stop the show and actually deliver what voters demanded on election security. Anything less is unacceptable.
Funniest Things:
That's one way to prove it
Like clockwork
Make it make sense
It's not "voter suppression," it's crime prevention.
