Deportation Efforts Need the Help of Deportees:

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has unveiled the launch of the CBP Home app, a rebrand of Biden's CBP One. Under Biden, the app was used by incoming illegal immigrants to schedule appointments, collect data, and organize court dates and parole hearings, but in reality it had little to no oversight and provided a pathway for unvetted illegal immigrants to pour into the country under the guise of control.

The rebranded app is being repurposed so that people here illegally can logon to start their self-deportation process. In a series of ads, that reportedly will be run in the U.S. as well as abroad, Noem gives a clear message from the president: leave now, and there's a chance for you to return legally in the future; or, wait until we deport you and there is a permanent ban on your ability to return to the U.S. ever again. A clear message, but only time will tell if it's effective.O. They’d rather shut the government down than give President Trump an inch of breathing room.

Self-Deportation Is a Work Around, But ICE Needs Help:

ICE has hit a bottleneck in its resources. Detention facilities are full, and in short, they're catching the illegal immigrants quicker than they can send them home. ICE is burning through cash and their operational funding has hit a wall, although we're waiting on some changes to detention center standards to allow ICE to repurpose border patrol facilities as the all-time-low number of border crossings has alleviated the situation on the border. But the $230 billion budget shortfall has hamstrung the speed and efficiency that Border Czar Tom Homan can fix the 20 million+ illegal immigration crisis Biden foisted onto the country.

Some governors have lended a hand to the administration, like Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin who has directed VA State Police to work with immigration officials to refer criminal illegal immigrants for deportation. In addition to that, Youngkin has allowed increased cooperation with federal authorities to address incarcerated aliens. Overall, Left-wing cities and states have been fighting against Trump's deportation efforts, effectively aiding and abetting criminals. The Trump administration continues to file lawsuits to carry out his deportation efforts, but all of these things are working together to slow down the process.

Trump's Approval Rating Time Bomb:

We are only 50 days into the Trump administration, but frustrations are starting to crop up throughout the Republican caucus. For maybe the first time this year, a large number of Republicans are breaking from Trump after he announced his plans to primary Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie. Massie historically votes NO on just about everything. He's effectively a libertarian with a big focus on the national debt - he's the guy that has the debt clock on his lapel.

Many longtime, staunch Trump supporters have voiced their split with Trump on this one. A quick search on X will pull a ton of tweets split between reporting Trump's Truth, supporting Massie, and attacking Massie - but bigger picture, it's the first rift we've seen so far. It's worth noting, Massie will likely be fine, Trump is totally fine, and the conservative coalition won't fall from this, but it's reminded the internet that Trump's grace from right-wing talking heads does have its limits.

Those limits won't be truly tested until it comes to something core to Trump's campaign promises. These deportations could be where the rubber meets the road - stopping illegal immigration and deporting the millions let in by Biden was central to many of his supporters. Right now, there's angst about the speed things are going - but it's understandable, explainable, and Trump's saying and doing all the right things to address the roadblocks. But we can be transactional with the president, and solving this issue was a big part of his side of the bargain. Deportation could be a time bomb on his approval ratings unless he can get the ball rolling quicker.

Together, we're fighting for a smaller, more sensible government. Thank you for reading today's Cannon, we hope you'll join us in the fight - one post at a time!
