Signal Flare, Not a Scandal
Turns out there was some high-level chatter on Signal—yes, the encrypted app—between Pete Hegseth, Marco Rubio, Tulsi Gabbard, JD Vance, and others about the U.S. response to Houthi-backed attacks. Just a standard internal policy convo. But somehow, Jeff Goldberg from The Atlantic ended up in the group chat. No, it wasn’t a leak. No, it wasn’t a scandal. It was a mis-click, not a conspiracy.
Nothing classified was discussed. No operational timelines. No sources and methods. Just frustration over Europe’s constant freeloading and the U.S. doing all the heavy lifting again. If anything, this brief blip exposed something the press won’t admit: the Trump administration’s national security team is completely aligned with the President’s vision—especially when it comes to getting NATO countries to finally pull their weight.
The media tried to spin this as some kind of palace intrigue drama or national security breach. Spoiler alert: it’s neither. And if you’re sitting in Brussels or Berlin wondering whether President Trump is serious about your defense budgets, now you know—he’s not bluffing, and neither is his team.
Don’t Waste Time Investigating a Typo
Cue Rep. Mike Rogers running to CNN, demanding an IG investigation. For what—a fat-fingered mistake in a group chat? Come on. We don’t need to spend a dime of taxpayer money to confirm someone clicked the wrong contact. There was no motive, no gain, no danger. Even if someone opens an investigation, they’ll shove it in a drawer the second the headlines fade.
Also, let’s get real: nobody on that Signal thread would have willingly added Jeff Goldberg. JD Vance? Tulsi Gabbard? The Atlantic has trashed them both for years. Nobody on Team Trump is leaking to Goldberg—they were openly strategizing without Trump even in the chat, clearly confident he’d approve.
This whole thing confirms what we’ve known: the Trump team is not divided on foreign policy. In fact, JD Vance took an even harder line than Trump himself. That kind of unity sends a message—not just to NATO, but to Hamas, Iran, and anyone else paying attention: this administration isn’t just serious—it’s coordinated.
