Don't California My America
Governor Gavin Newsom is now in year 22 of his 10-year plan to “solve” homelessness in California. Two decades later, the tents are still there. The crime is still there. The drugs are still there.
The only thing that changed? The vocabulary. Sacramento started calling the homeless “unhoused,” as if a new word would fix the problem. It didn’t. People are still living on sidewalks and in parks.
The one moment California’s streets actually looked clean was November 2023, when Xi Jinping came to visit. For a communist dictator, Newsom swept away the encampments and made San Francisco spotless. For his own people, he shrugs.
Contrast that with Washington, DC. Crime was spiking, homelessness growing. Trump stepped in, set priorities, and within days order was restored. Results came from action, not word games.
Newsom has no interest in that kind of accountability. He has bigger ambitions. He wants the White House. And if his record in California is the blueprint, every community in America should see it as a warning sign.
Businesses are leaving. Families are leaving. California is bleeding capital and people. And Newsom still talks about exporting this model nationwide.
We don’t need more wordplay. We need leaders who put citizens ahead of optics.
