Democrats Have Shut Down the Government
The government has shut down following Democrats' refusal to pass a clean Continuing Resolution to fund the government at current levels.
Â
Democrats are holding funding hostage to try and claw back some of the gains Republicans made with the One Big Beautiful Bill, namely Medicaid funding and rescissions powers. Democrats want to extend Obamacare credits that are expected to sunset at the end of the year, but along with some smaller line items the Left's demands would cost an additional $1 trillion.
Â
The Democrats would also like to reduce the power President Trump has to perform 'pocket rescissions,' or his power to unilaterally spend less money. Yes, the Democrats are upset that President Trump might not spend money while the US faces a $37 trillion dollar debt balloon. Insane.
Â
While this goes on, many non-essential federal workers won't go to work, but Russ Vought, the head of OPM, has issued RIF memos - directing federal agencies to submit lists of personnel reductions that could reduce the size of the federal workforce if the Schumer shutdown stays in place.
Â
The Democrats have taken the losing side of yet another issue. Nearly half of Democrats oppose the Democrat shutdown and 59% of independents oppose the antics. While Democrats refuse to govern, President Trump is poised to step in and govern effectively in their stead. Make no mistake, the longer Democrats prolong the shutdown, the more ability President Trump has to permanently enact cuts across bloated federal agencies. Don't let the Democrats scare you into spending $1 trillion on things we don't need with money we don't have, the sun will come up tomorrow whether Congress strikes a deal or not.
