Day 9: Democrats’ Shutdown Hurts Our Troops
The Democrat shutdown is now in its ninth day — nine days of the Left choosing illegal immigrants over American citizens.
For most Americans, Washington grinding to a halt doesn’t change daily life. But for the men and women serving our country, it means something real: no paychecks until the Democrats reopen the government. President Trump has already promised to make our troops whole with back pay. They’ll be taken care of.
The same can’t be said for the bloated layers of “non-essential” federal workers that the shutdown is exposing. The longer the Democrats hold out, the more of the federal bureaucracy will face permanent downsizing — and that’s a good thing.
There’s already a silver lining. Earlier this week, the Trump administration pushed through 107 long-stalled confirmations — from the SEC chair to key ambassador posts — that Senate Democrats had been blocking for months. With the government in partial shutdown, the Left’s obstruction tactics finally collapsed.
Behind the scenes, “Reduction in Force” (RIF) memos are now circulating — the first step toward shrinking Washington’s permanent class. If the shutdown drags on, those cuts could take effect within 30–60 days, giving President Trump the opening to permanently trim the bureaucracy that’s been at war with him since 2016.
Make no mistake: Democrats shut down the government to demand $1 trillion for free healthcare for non-citizens. That’s their line in the sand. And every extra day they stall, they risk losing thousands of entrenched bureaucrats who’ve spent years working against the voters who put Trump in office.
The question now isn’t whether the government will reopen. It’s how much smaller it will be when it does.
