Democrats Wield Political Power, Republicans Need to Learn How
The results are in from Virginia’s redistricting referendum, and Democrats just scored four new congressional seats.
In a close vote, Virginians approved a plan that lets the Democrat-controlled General Assembly scrap the bipartisan redistricting commission and draw new congressional maps mid-decade. Their goal is crystal clear: turn Virginia’s current 6-5 Democratic edge to 10-1 uniparty rule by carving up rural communities to benefit Northern Virginia liberals.
This is the same party that once railed against gerrymandering. Now that they hold the levers of power in Richmond, the rules no longer apply. Rural Virginians are being disenfranchised because Democrats view political power as absolute, and don’t differentiate between state politics and federal. To the Left, all of politics come down to power, and when they have it they wield it relentlessly. Perhaps Republicans should take note.
The good news is a circuit court judge in Tazewell County issued an injunction yesterday, blocking certification of the results and calling the referendum unconstitutional because of the process Democrats used to advance it. That fight heads to appeals immediately, but ultimately it will be up to the Virginia Supreme Court if this 4-seat power grab will stand.
This isn’t just about Virginia. It’s about protecting fair elections and stopping Democrats from rigging the map before the 2026 midterms. President Trump and our conservative agenda need every seat we can hold, and that starts with protecting voter integrity with the SAVE America Act.
