Jesus, Take the Wheel: "(Insert Beer)" Makes It Into the Actual Tweet

Nothing says "we've got this campaign under control" quite like posting your own internal instructions to the entire internet instead of, you know, following them.

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs's campaign account posted a folksy, relatable tweet last month meant to make her sound like just another regular person enjoying a night out. There was just one small problem: somewhere in the copy, right where a staffer was supposed to drop in an actual beer brand to sound authentic, the placeholder text "(insert beer)" was still sitting there in the final, published tweet -- brackets, instructions, and all.

Nobody on the team caught it before it went out. Nobody caught it for a while after it went out, either -- long enough for screenshots to spread across the internet before Team Hobbs quietly edited the post, leaving behind the platform's telltale "last edited" tag as the only evidence something had gone very wrong. Naturally, the internet did what the internet does: it noticed immediately, roasted mercilessly, and would not let it go.

Gee @katiehobbs, how many (insert beer) did you have today? You feeling okay? Should we call an Uber for you?

That was one of the milder jokes making the rounds -- plenty of others simply started replying with their own fill-in-the-blank suggestions, turning "(insert beer)" into an instant, self-inflicted meme. It's a small thing, in the end, but a genuinely funny reminder that even a well-oiled campaign machine is still just a handful of overworked staffers, a content calendar, and a copy-paste button standing between a candidate and total internet mockery.

Jesus, take the wheel!
