Jesus, Take the Wheel: James Carville Prays for More Hatred

Nothing says "I have my emotions completely under control" quite like a veteran political strategist praying to God for more hatred in his heart.

Democratic strategist James Carville has made a habit of losing it on camera lately, but his March podcast rant might be the purest distillation of Trump Derangement Syndrome ever recorded. Carville didn't just admit to having TDS -- he begged for more of it. "I got Trump Derangement Syndrome," he told listeners. "I don't want to get better. I want to get worse. I want to hate him more." He then, apparently without irony, asked God himself to intervene: "I pray to God in heaven... reign the righteous reign of Trump Derangement Syndrome on me."
"I don't just have it, man. I want it. I don't want to get better. I want to get worse."
In case anyone thought that was a one-time thing, Carville was back at it two months later, telling his podcast audience he hopes the 80-year-old president stays alive and fully "cognizant" through the midterms specifically so he can be aware of just how much the country hates him, calling it a "refreshing, but genuine visceral hatred." And in April, he opened a Good Friday broadcast -- Good Friday -- by hurling insults at Trump before pivoting into a lecture about the man's poll numbers.
Somewhere along the way, "Trump Derangement Syndrome" stopped being a punchline conservatives invented and became a diagnosis Democratic strategists proudly self-administer on the record, repeatedly, for months, apparently as a badge of honor. It would almost be sad if it weren't so entertaining.
Jesus, take the wheel!
