Hypocrisy Has Wings (and Three Homes)
Senator Bernie Sanders loves to lecture Americans about the evils of the rich and the supposed impending doom of climate change. But here’s the reality: Bernie is the rich. While he rants about billionaires and screams that the sky is falling, he’s busy galavanting across the country on private jets with the likes of AOC, racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel expenses and pumping emissions into the very atmosphere he claims to be saving.
If Sanders truly believed the planet was on the brink of destruction, would he be soaring above it in luxury, detached from the burdens he demands everyday Americans to endure? The answer is obvious. It’s not about principles; it’s about privilege.
And like so many of the elite ruling class, Bernie remains safely removed from the consequences of the destructive policies he pushes. MS-13 and violent gangs aren’t terrorizing the streets near his cozy Vermont mansion or his lakeside vacation home — they’re in your neighborhood. And when he demands every American scrap their car and buy a new electric vehicle, he ignores the fact that most families don’t have $50,000 lying around for a Tesla. We’re broke, Bernie — broke from the inflation you and Biden helped create. It’s worse than out of touch. It’s salt in the wound he helped create.
From Private Jets to Public Eyesores
Speaking of waste, the elites’ addiction to performative statements reached a new low with New York City’s unveiling of a 12-foot statue of a black woman. The bold and progressive statue stands awkward and out of place, a glaring eyesore that nobody outside of the city’s ruling class seems to appreciate.
Coming off the absurdity of Bernie’s private jet climate crusade, you can’t help but imagine the “Just Stop Oil” protestors, famous for splattering masterpieces with orange paint, standing in front of this new statue confused. Where are these people when you need them?
The Big, Beautiful Bill
While the culture warriors are busy erecting statues and virtue signaling, President Trump and Republicans in Congress are focused on what actually matters: The Big, Beautiful Bill. The full text isn’t out yet, but what’s at stake is crystal clear. If it fails, Americans will face the largest tax hikes reverting back to the Obama years.
The fight over the SALT deduction cap is already heating up. Blue-state Republicans want relief for their constituents who face exorbitant state taxes, but the fundamental question remains: why should taxpayers in fiscally responsible states like Florida and Texas foot the bill for the reckless spending habits of California, New York, and their socialist-style governments?
Well-run states shouldn’t be forced to subsidize the failures of mismanaged ones. Trump, conservatives, and the squishy Republicans have a lot to negotiate, but the Big, Beautiful Bill could be the spark Americans have been waiting for.
Thanks for reading this week’s Cannon. The fight for America’s future continues — online, in Congress, and in culture.
