Rescissions Decisions
The next rescissions package is coming up in the Senate and is set to have a vote by July 18. This bill, which is largely DOGE cuts, but includes important elements like defunding the Leftist PBS and NPR. Between the broadcasting and foreign aid slashes, Congress is set to reclaim over $9 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse - waste that has not only burned cash, but has been weaponized against Americans through the PBS and NPR propaganda machines.
Thankfully, the rescissions bill cannot be filibustered, meaning the Senate only needs to gather 51 Republicans - or 50 with JD Vance breaking the tie - to pass it. Although the July 18 deadline means we should see the bill move in short order, it also raises the stakes because if the Senate fails to pass it, it is dead.
Republicans have a decision to make: honor the mandate the American people sent them to Washington to fulfill, or squabble with the will of the people to protect a bloated government. The bill is tiny - accounting for only 0.14% of the federal budget. Yes, we need more rescissions packages and deeper cuts, but with a bill that small it only highlights how insane it would be for the Senate to fail to get this important legislation through.
It should pass without a hitch. If it doesn't, though, there should be an electoral reckoning for any Senator that puts his or her name behind billions to fund things nobody asked for, nobody wants, and nobody needs.
