Clawing Back Some Money
The House and Senate both passed a rescissions package that rescinds over $9 billion in previously approved federal spending — including cuts to left-wing outlets like PBS and NPR and unnecessary foreign aid.
Focused largely on DOGE reductions, the bill was a key test for Republicans to honor the mandate they were sent to Washington to fulfill. With no filibuster threat, it needed only a simple majority — and it passed.
Though just 0.14% of the federal budget, this win is symbolic: Congress can cut waste.
More rescissions packages are on the way, this is a strong step towards a smaller government. Those who opposed it should answer for backing bloated bureaucracy over the American people.
Gavin Newsom Is Either Very Bad at Math, or Very Good at Lying
On Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom slammed Texas Republicans for seeking five new seats through redistricting, warning, “two can play at that game” — ironic, since California is already one of the most gerrymandered states in the country despite their "nonpartisan" commission.
The truth? If Texas used California’s method, Republicans would gain exactly five seats, if not more, the same number Newsom is complaining about.
Democrats love to accuse others of what they’re already doing.
Red states need to redistrict like blue states have. Republicans are leaving seats on the table. Add the flawed 2020 census — which overcounted blue states and undercounted red ones.
And because the census counts illegal immigrants equally, blue states get inflated representation. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bill to redo the census is critical. With Trump’s backing, it needs to pass. The GOP’s majority should be bigger — and would be if the system were fair.
Congress can demand a new census, and with Trump's endorsement, it seems we're on our way to a fair, accurate count of our population.
