What This Election Really Means for Conservatives
Tuesday’s elections were tough for Republicans. Democrats scored wins across Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. But this was not a rejection of President Trump or the America First movement. It was the result of weak candidates, deep-blue states, and the simple fact that Trump’s name wasn’t on the ballot.
Yes, the losses matter. Virginia Democrats can now redraw congressional maps. Pennsylvania’s liberal Supreme Court — the same one that ignored its own constitution to allow mail-in voting in 2020 — remains in place until 2035. And New York elected a socialist mayor who thinks government is the answer to every problem.
But this is not a movement in retreat. It is a reminder that slogans don’t win elections — conviction does. In Virginia, Republicans offered no clear message on affordability, crime, or education. In contrast, the Left’s candidates campaigned relentlessly and spoke directly to voters. They were wrong on every policy, but they showed up.
The lesson is clear: we need to lead with ideas, not play it safe.
And we need to stop tying our own hands in Washington. The filibuster has paralyzed Congress. When the Senate can’t move, presidents fill the vacuum with executive orders. Every stalemate hands more power to the White House and less to the people’s branch. That’s not checks and balances, that’s surrender.
I’m tired of worrying about what the other team might do. Get rid of the filibuster. Put the America First agenda on the floor and pass it — voter ID, deportations, tax cuts, a leaner government, and the restoration of real accountability.
The conservative movement is strong. The mission hasn’t changed. It’s time to govern with courage and purpose.
