Pin the Blame on the Donkey
The government is open again, but I would not call it a moment for celebration. It is simply a reminder of how badly Washington works and how quickly Democrats reach for panic and blame when they do not get their way.
Â
For weeks, Democrats tried to tag Republicans with the shutdown label. But when the votes came, Republicans supported reopening the government while Democrats blocked it again and again. That tells you all you need to know about who was serious and who was playing politics.
Â
Democrats were really fighting to preserve the Biden-era Obamacare expansions that pushed eligibility far beyond what the law ever intended. They did not get what they wanted.
Â
But this is not a moment for Republicans to pat themselves on the back.
Â
If anything, it is a reminder that they need to get serious and push hard on their own agenda. Voters are tired of excuses. They want results: spending discipline, secure elections, a healthcare system that won’t bankrupt us, and a Congress that actually uses its authority instead of surrendering it to federal agencies.
Â
And while Democrat activists are busy yelling at their own leadership for ending the shutdown they blamed on Republicans, conservatives should stay focused on what matters: making sure this Congress does more than reopen government buildings. It needs to reopen real accountability.
Â
Republicans won this round by standing firm. Now, they need to prove they can do something with it.
Funniest Things We Saw Today:
The Democrat shutdown is over!
After 200+ years, the penny is no longer being made. Farewell, copper king.
