Reaching a SNAP-ping Point

ree

With the government shutdown now over a month long, the government payments are drying up. Military members have just missed a full paycheck, federal workers are largely furloughed, and food assistance programs have shriveled. Military members have some saving grace — with military-focused banks offering interest-free loans. Federal workers will be made whole once the shutdown ends. But the most entitled, upset group are those receiving handouts to fund their lives via SNAP (food stamp), government housing, and government medical care.

A bombshell report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) just revealed that 59% of non-citizen households are on the government doll. Over half of the people coming into the U.S. — illegal and visa holders alike — are surviving off of the taxpayer dime. Where is the benefit to hardworking Americans to bring in millions of foreigners that don't speak our language, don't assimilate, and live off our tax dollars while the country spirals further into debt?

Democrats are doubling down, instead of recognizing the direct harm their policies are perpetrating on Americans. Hurting military members and federal employees by prolonging a shutdown not to rectify the problem, but to expand the pool of benefits illegal immigrants receive.

SNAP spending has nearly doubled since 2019, with at least 42 million people dependent on the government for their basic necessities. As troubling as that figure is, and despite how desperately needed reforms are — over 12% of the country won't have food because the Left prioritizes illegal immigrants over citizens. Enough is enough.

Too Little, "Too Late"

ree

This week, the Federal Reserve chairman "Too Late" Jerome Powell announced a .25 basis point cut to interest rates. This comes after months of President Trump pressuring the fed to lower rates and is the second .25 point cut in 2025. Rates need to be decreased further — this is insufficient.

Inflation is down to 3% year over year, a far-cry from the 9.1% peak under President Biden. At the time, raising interest rates made sense to combat inflation — but between tariff income, a stalling job market, and energy prices coming down roughly 20% since January — the cuts are coming too little too late.

The economy is getting stronger, and once Powell is out as chair of the fed in May, things should get even better for the millions of Americans that were crushed under Biden's reckless tax and spend inflationary spiral.
